Well, it certainly isn’t that bad! 😉

On the good news front my son has an innocent murmur. Extremely poorly named since it isn’t a murmur just normal heart sounds. On to surgery on Monday and then we can be on the downward slope.

My legs have continued to get worse. At their worst it feels like my legs are Jello with a shortage a gelatin. I called the neuro on Friday to go ahead and start getting the Solu-Medrol ball rolling. Originally, I was going to wait until the following Monday to start; but with the continued downward spiral I decided to go ahead and schedule it for this coming Wednesday. Of course the neuro had no problem prescribing a dose – probably because my adverseness to the treatment is legendary. Ugh!

  1. Whats the regiment for you? Do you do IV for several days frist then move to oral? Or straight to oral?

  2. It will be 3 days of IV Solu-Medrol (1g) followed by about a week of tapering with low-dose oral. 🙁

  3. I guess I should clarify 1g/day for 3 days then tapering. I seem to recall it starting as a 7mg taper and then working down to 1mg

  4. erik,
i was wondering if your ms medication is not working anymore. i have heard around that sometimes when being on a particular medication that sometimes it loses effectiveness.and the blood brain barrier is no longer protected. this is just a thought. then again i know you are going through a lot right now and when it settles you will improve. i hope all is well with you and your your family.

  5. Happy to hear that your son has an innocent murmur and that it’s really not a murmur at all! I am also hoping that it is just the stress from current events that are causing your leg jellys (a la jam?). Interesting choice of similes. In the french language the leg is pronounced Jam! Are you back at school? I am thinking of sitting this semester out.

  6. I wanted to add that I hope your sons’ surgery goes smoothly tomorrow. Well wishes heading your way.

  7. Mouse,
Thanks for the well wishes. I am sure everything is fine. Unfortunately I can only take a maximum of 4 weeks off at a time from school since I am doing the on-line thing. I have never taken more than 2 weeks off for fear that I will never return. I am really just there for the sheepskin to prove to employers that I am not a complete luser – forget the 8 yrs. of experience that I already have! 🙁
