I came across this article, Steroid Therapy Impairs Long-Term Memory, and certainly found it intersting, and yet a little depressing. On the other hand I certainly don’t begrudge the times I have taken Solu-Medrol. I need to pull the report in Neurology to see what it specifically says. Whatever the cause my memory, and cognitive, function definitely aren’t what they used to be. I had something else to say but I forgot. 😉

On a side note their comment in the end about “emotionally arousing information” was kinda a no duh! Personally, I’m too agitated about everything to think about anything else, is that what they are talking about? Furthermore, in my limited experience the Solu-Medrol bad attitude isn’t exactly a turn-on for the Mrs. either!

  1. I plan on staying away from SolMed for as long as I possibly can. To me, he cons far outweigh the pros. I’m not completely against them, but I run the other way when a doctor wants to use them on a regular basis, and for each and every single flare.

I will only use SolMed if I have such a severe ex that I can’t even get out of bed or I’m completely blind. Slow walking with help or partly blind doesn’t count. I can push myself through those and try to stay as patient as possible.

All of those side effects scare me. A close friend of mine has severe osteoporosis from heavy steroid use. And I know of several who developed diabetes from roids. !!!!!

  2. Quality of life issues, pay attention to them, you must. Yesss?

  3. Jessica,
I know the steroids are not good for anyone’s health – and I’ve tried to avoid them as much as I can. Heck it’s possible my wife could kill me from my ‘roid attidute! 🙁

  4. MDMHVonPA,
You are certainly chock full of Star Wars phrases. Are you one of those that dresses up like a Storm Trooper for the MS Walks?!

  5. Oh GOD,the heat would devistate me! Naw, I would probably dress up as an ewock.

  6. Yeah, that would be so much cooler! 😉
