and it is so much better than I had possibly imagined!

At about 10:30am I got a call from Walgreen Specialty Pharmacy. I immediately figured Allison was just calling to see if I was ready to put in my order. As it turns out she had actually just gotten off the phone with someone at WHI letting her know that my co-pay has been adjusted to $62.50 for a three month supply. Allison wanted to know if I wanted to fill my prescription at that price. I MOST CERTAINLY DID, and a three month supply will be delivered on Tuesday!

I kept waiting on an email from HR, but that never happened. Instead, around 2:30, while away from my desk, the HR rep over benefits called and left a very detailed message. I much rather would have posted an email but here is the synopsis: She thanked me for bringing this to their attention, that this was definitely an oversight as they converted to a % based plan. She said that she had put through a special exclusion for me, so my drug could immediately be prescribed at the right price; and she was working hard to get find out about my order (that I hadn’t made yet) so she could get me a refund and ship me two more months of medication. She said that the override for me is in the “system” until they can get the entire “system” updated with the correct information.

This is better than last year. I could never get a 3 month supply, and this is $12.50 less expensive. My dream was that they give it to me in 1 month increments, like they have been, but only charge me $62.50.

In no way do I believe that something this significant was an oversight, even giving them maximum benefit of doubt. I’m sure they just never planned on getting called on it, and are obviously working very hard to avoid “serious issues.” 😉

Jesus has been exceptionally merciful to us. I knew we would be fine, by his grace, but I expected it to come at the price of some pain as we adjusted.

  1. This is especially good considering I didn’t think there was a snow ball’s chance in Hell of them changing the plan. I just thought they would be just upfront with the changes – and maybe consider changing for 2006.

  2. Great news Erik! Thats fantastic news! You know, it just pays off to be assertive and forward with doing what’s best for one’s self. Congratulations.

  3. Good for you Erik. 🙂

Kudos and extreme thanks to Erik’s employer for taking care of this. We did not think there was any chance this would change. We are so excited and happy.

  6. Erik, that is FANTASTIC! I’m so very happy for you and kudos to the company for getting this done for you! Sometimes it just pays to be a squeaky wheel! 🙂

  7. I hear in Texas, sending an Irate EMail ™ is akin to the sound of a shotgun being loaded. 😉

  8. That’s wonderful news! Congraulations! I’m glad you are giving Jesus the glory for this. After all, can you imagine where we would be right now without Him??? Not a very pleasant place!

  10. I concurre w/ the previous many vioces – if I could get my hubby to finally get me permission to TALK to our insurance people(he’s just lazy that way) then I would know more about the changes too…good show!

  11. Kurt,
I don’t know whether to thank you or pity you with me being your #1 hero. Thank you for the very nice comment but I’m kinda the bottom of the barrel – you definitely need to get out more! 😉
