Comcast pushed me over the edge by using their icon for the favorites icon displayed next to the URL or after you bookmark your page. This compelled me to do something – because anything other than their logo would have to be better! So I took an image of the MS Ribbon of Hope, scaled it down, and then used png2ico to create the icon file. The image is released under the Creative Commons “Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0” license. The 32×32 PNG image can he acquired here: http://blog.thesmithlife.com/ribbon32.png
or the 32×32 icon file here as used on this site: http://blog.thesmithlife.com/favicon.ico

I like the ribbon because it really does sum up MS. Per the NMSS site:

As the prism ribbon seems to change color as it reflects light, so it symbolizes the unpredictable, life altering affects MS has on people’s lives. The ribbon is also symbolic of the hope the Society provides as we press forward toward our goal to end the devastating effects of MS—forever.

  1. Of course it doesn’t work as well on Firefox. Ugh – maybe they’ll fix that in the next release – the joys of Beta software. Time to submit my bug report but until then I’ll be living with the darn Comcast icon. 🙁

  2. Hmm, I actually have the physical ‘prism ribbon’. Its plastic. I guess that is also apropo becasue MS is everchanging? Or is it better said that MS is a cheap little piece of junk with a pointy edge?
